Who Should Learn Lifesaving?
Besides individual’s self-interest to acquire lifesaving skill, there are some professions that need this essential skills or is helpful in their daily routines. Overall, mastering this skill makes the workplace safer for everyone.
- Civil Defence personnel such as fire-fighters and Emergency Medical Services(EMS) staff
- Law enforcement staff and military personnel
- Outdoor and adventure trip enthusiasts
- Occupation that engage in water activities like aquatic therapists, water-fitness instructors and professional divers
- Occupation that is in the vicinity of water bodies such as shipyard workers, marina staff and water-themed park staff
Another group of people appropriate for lifesaving training are those children or teenagers who have completed their tour of competitive swimming, NASSA programme or SwimSafer programme. Many parents thought that their children had accomplished all possible swimming awards and were not aware that lifesaving courses is the next swimming adventure they can embark on.
With this awareness, it is believed that the number of lifesaver trained will steadily increase to meet the future demand for all water-facilities to be made safe for all pool-users
